Satsang

11 Oct 2012 - Satsang Transription:
We will do some movement and then meditate.
Sri Sri conducting a Meditation!
If you see the mythological picture, you find that Mahavir is sitting and there is a 5 headed cobra behind him. It is a subtle thing. You are sitting in meditation and your consciousness is getting alert, awake, as thought in the back ground there is a thousand headed cobra!
How many of you felt alterness?
That is the symbol of alertness. It is a symbol of wakefulness in a deep state of rest.
That is meditation, wanting nothing, doing nothing, and no effort.
There are two types of descriptions. One is cobra and some describe it as a cobra.
A thousand petal lotus on the crown chakra. Both fit very well.
It you don't feel anything that means you have stuffed yourself with so much food. Then you do not feel any cobra, you will feel a buffalo .
That is why fasting is good.
In all religions, they recommend fasting. But there are some rules for fasting. It is not that you should not eat all day and then eat a lot at night. Sometime in Navratri in the name of fasting we feast.
We eat potatoes, friend potatoes, french fries.
This is not correct.
This is a wrong type of fasting. You should not fast like that.
A little bit of food and food which is easily digestible. A little bit of fruits and drink a lot water. When body is not so heavy or dull, then it blossoms and meditation happen better.
Isn't that so. How many of you have this experience. At the same time too much fasting will raise the pitta in your body.
Q: T here no difference between Shiva and Vishnu. But who originated who?
Sri Sri: When you see what came from what, you are thinking from linear terms. Truth is not linear it is spherical. So it depends from which side you are seeing it from.
Are you getting it? It depends from where you start and where you go.
They are all not different. All are same.
Q: In Ashtavakra Gita, it says you can go on reading scriptures, but you will get freedom only when you forget the scripture.
Sri Sri: You have to get into the bus and get out of the bus. If you tell me, 'if I have to get out of the bus, why should I have to get into the bus in the first place'.
This argument will not work. You get into the bus from one spot and you get out of the bus at another spot.
Knowledge is like soap.
You put it on your body, but then you have to wash it off as well.
If you keep saying, I want liberation, I want liberation. That desire is important for you to get freedom from other desires.
But by saying that you will not get freedom.
But the desire is essential. Eventually you will come to a point where you feel that, if I get freedom or not, it is okay.
Q: What is the specialty of this full moon.
Sri Sri: This full moon is dedicated to the departed soul.
When you leave the body, there are some devas who guide you from this level to another level.
On this full moon, you pray for the peace of the departed souls.
The family, generally do a ritual. They take some sesame seeds and leave it with water to tell the departed sould, 'Be fulfilled. All these little desires you have are like sesame seeds. Whatever is pulling you back, drop them'
If you feel you have not gotten your son or daughter married, you have not made you house, or some little work, drop them.
Water is a symbol is love.
So water is a symbol of love and life, to give them in their memory.
So on this full moon, people think of all their ancestors, from three generations from mother's side and father's side.
Six couples are remembered, plus anyone else. Any friends or relatives who have crossed to the other side.
And in the memory people do some charity. That is the tradition.
It is in almost all cultures of the world.
I was surprised to see that this is in Mexico.
On 2nd of November every year. They do this in China as well.
Singapore is called a very clean city, but one day in a year it becomes very dirty.
On the street, for a few hours you will see a lot of cardboard, cars made of cardboard and houses and then they burn it in memory of their ancestors and they get blessings.
Even in Christianity, there is on day called All Saints Day when people remember their ancestors.
This is just to remind oneself that life is temporary. So many years these other people lived here and now they are gone and one day we are also going to go. And wish them peace.
Unfortunate here in India it is all in Sanskrit so people do not understand.
Q: Are we punished because of the bad karmas of our parents and grandparents?
Sri Sri: Listen, if you grandfather leaves you a very nice big house, is that the fruit of his karma.
This is very obvious.
You have no escape from bad or good karma in the world.
