What will happen after 100 years?

Q. What will happen after 100 years? A. Good to worry like that. Give yourself a bigger dimension. There is no pleasure in small things. Q. Why many spiritual organizations criticise each other when their goal is the same? A. All to be wondered, not to be answered. Q. What is required to avoid politics among college students? A. Bring their focus to knowledge. Let students do some seva. Then they will not go to dirty politics. Q. How to face criticism about AOL? A. It’s not much. It’s a better time than that of Jesus. There is not a lot of criticism. During Kabir, Buddha and Krishna's time, there was a lot of criticism. This is a good time; there is not a lot of criticism. Q. Science and Spirituality

Science and Spirituality are like body and soul. Science is the study of “What is this?”, and spirituality is the study of “Who am I?” So the objective and subjective understandings together make human life complete, whole. India’s contribution is in the spiritual field. This realm is as immense as Germany’s contribution to scientific development. And in the East, science was never in conflict with spirituality. In the East the spirituality realized this thing. In the East, spirituality was never in conflict with science because spirituality goes on the experiential level. Spirituality deals on the experiential level, not just on a belief system. In this connection we find a great interest among the scientific-tempered Germans to study the spiritual traditions of the East, and Art of Living has facilitated this quest to learn more about consciousness among the Europeans, a scientific study and reappraisal of consciousness. Art of Living has also promoted Ayurveda and Yoga, an...

ABC of life By Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Awareness, belongingness and commitment hold the key to success. What is the ABC of life? It is awareness, belongingness and commitment. In any field you need the ABC. Are we aware of what we are telling ourselves? This level of awareness is vital for a society because this is what can prevent a crime. With this level of awareness, it is impossible for a criminal to commit a crime. There was a thief. He went to meet a saint. He told the saint that he had a compulsion to steal. The saint said, “I am not going to tell you not to steal. But when you steal, do it with awareness.” Three months later, the thief came back to the saint and said, “With awareness, I could not steal.” It is the same with anger. It comes with a burst, you lose it. But what have you actually lost? You lost awareness. You can arouse a passion, and that passion can become an impulse to destroy. But to be creative you don’t need to arouse a passion, you need to be focused and most importantly, you need to ...

Insulin injection: Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing conditions in the world with Type 2 by far the most common Preventing diabetes: Study showed an almond-rich diet could prevent the disease from developing Eating almonds could help prevent diabetes and heart disease, according to a study. Researchers found that incorporating the nuts into our diets may help treat type 2 diabetes , which accounts for 90 to 95 per cent of all cases. As well as combating the condition, linked to obesity and physical inactivity , it could tackle cardiovascular disease, said the report published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition. Diabetics have a shortage of insulin or a decreased ability to use the hormone that allows glucose to enter cells and be converted to energy. When diabetes is not controlled, glucose and fats remain in the blood and over time, damage vital organs. The study found that a diet rich in almonds may help improve insulin sensitivity and decrease LDL-cholestero...

Guruji's discourse at Bangalore Ashram

Q. Why is this that good people like Ram suffer? A. For you it might be a suffering, for them it may be joyful. You may not like doing laborious job, but at the same time people go for body building, they go to gym. lift weight and enjoy. Similarly, you might not like climbing a mountain, but for some it is a big joy. They climb big mountains for joy, isn't it? In case of Ram, he was full of joy from within. To him nothing mattered, he was so centered that he could find joy anywhere. He had seen the royal life and was not attached to it. He was so obedient that he felt joy in obeying their parents, so to him it was all fun. Q. What is more important knowledge or devotion? A. They both go parallel. Its like a chair if you pull one leg the other will also come. So both, knowledge brings devotion and devotion brings knowledge. Q. If there is "shiva" inside us then why do we do bad things? A. Hmmm. Shiva is sleeping. When you do bad things your shiva is sleeping. When y...

Here are the matches found in the Daily Sutra Archives for the keyword [ mind ] -- Craving clouds your mind. Anything you crave -- your mind will not be clear; clarity in the mind is lost. Feverishness makes you lose your wisdom -- From Bhakti Sutras #1, Types of Love The mind plays so many tricks. The mind is charmed always by a distance. We are not charmed by God because he is very close to us; he is the nearest. So the mind tries to keep God at a very great distance -- From Bhakti Sutras #14, The Concept of God Something which is simple, the mind cannot accept. The ego wants very complicated and difficult things -- From Bhakti Sutras #14, The Concept of God You think you love somebody, [but] you really do not love that person, you are just wanting to have pleasure from that person. Your mind is on the pleasure; after a while that dies out. When the attraction dies out, your love disappears. That type of love is rajasic love...it is an animalistic love -- From Bhakti Sutras #14 cont...

Make your anger expensive

By Sri Sri Ravi Shankar It’s often asked why is there imperfection in the world if all is God. If all is love, why are there emotions such as lust, pride, attachment, anger, ego, greed and jealousy? These negative emotions are nothing but distortions of love. These distortions manifest in animals also, but they have no way to go beyond them as Nature rules them. But human beings are endowed with discrimination and can move from these distortions to a state of pure love. Every sincere seeker wants to get rid of anger and reach a state perfection, but is often swept by his or her emotions. What can you do when anger rises in you? You may remind yourself a hundred times that you shouldn’t get angry, but when the mood comes, you are unable to control it. It comes like a thunderstorm. Emotions are much more powerful than your thoughts and promises you make. Anger is a distortion of our true nature. It is part of this creation but we still call it a distortion because it doe...
